Introduction of General Binding Declaration: the events leading up to it

On 1 January 2025, the General Binding Declaration (GBD) for collective consumer communications will be up and running. The timeline below provides a bird’s-eye view of the process.

Green Light for the GBD

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature has approved the application for the General Binding Declaration (GBD). This means that on 1 January 2025, the GBD for collective consumer communications will officially take effect.
Apr'24
Start preparations.

The Flower Council of Holland is preparing internally for two scenarios: green or red light for the GBD.

Application submitted.

The BO Sierteelt submits the application to the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature, and Food Quality (LVVN) for the introduction of the GBD.

High turnout and positive results.

74% of the trading companies voted in favor of implementing a GBD.
Jan'24
Traders can vote again.

Trading companies can express their views in the online support assessment regarding the GBD as of January 1, 2025.
