The chrysanthemum on the Flower Agenda from weeks 36 to 40

24 August 2015

The Flower Agenda on Funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk will focus on the warm and colourful chrysanthemum from week 36 to week 40. Your customers will be able to read all about this flower, which is available in an incredibly broad range of colours. Will you help your customers to enjoy the stylish chrysanthemum's many possibilities over the coming weeks?

What is the Flower Agenda?
The Flower Agenda 2015 features fifteen flowers sorted by seasonal availability. The agenda tells consumers the story of the flower and offers them inspiration and beautiful images. The agenda appears on Funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk and the content is formatted in such a way that it can be easily shared via social media.

Origin
The chrysanthemum has been incredibly popular in Asia for centuries. The flower originated from China and Japan, where people fell in love with it immediately. The chrysanthemum made its appearance in Europe in around 1700.

Colours and shapes of the chrysanthemum
We might almost forget that the chrysanthemum was originally yellow; the flower is now available in an incredibly wide range of colours. Those looking for colour can enrich their home with chrysanthemums in warm golden yellow, bronze or deep orange tones. Or they can opt for subtle and calming with chrysanthemums in arrays of white, pink or purple. This fabulous bloom also offers plenty of choice from various varieties: there are spray, spider and santini chrysanthemums.

Care tips for consumers
Help your customers to enjoy their chrysanthemums for up to three weeks with the following tips.

  • Provide them with a clean vase and clean water.
  • Remove the leaves so they are not dangling in the water.
  • Add cut flower food.
  • Replace the water every five days and regularly top up.
  • Don't place the flowers in direct sunlight or in a draught.

How to make a chrysanthemum bouquet
Chrysanthemums combine well with other flowers. Opt for the simplicity of a robust pot with chrysanthemums, trailing Amaranthus caudatus and hydrangeas. Or go for slightly more colour and combine the chrysanthemum with rosehips and gerberas. Or how about the refined bouquet in the photo? This combines chrysanthemums with dahlias, gerberas, Aralia and Anthurium leaves. You can create a very special effect by sticking copper leaf on the edges of the Anthurium leaves.

The chrysanthemum's symbolism
The chrysanthemum symbolises  luck and health. So the stylish chrysanthemum brings both endless colour and a healthy dose of luck into your customers' home.
