International media attention
The Tour de France Femmes officially returned in 2022. This year, the cycling event for women starts with a stage through Westland, which is the heart of the greenhouse horticultural sector. With media attention from over 190 countries and reporting by more than 1,000 international journalists, this offers a fantastic opportunity to positively influence the image of the Dutch horticultural sector. The NOS, which is the Dutch public broadcaster, will be broadcasting the event live.

Growers in the spotlight
We are creating a mosaic of flowers and plants in partnership with growers and traders. This will be placed on a piece of land at one of the growers in Westland, who has made it specially available for the event. The colourful work of floral art aims to boost public awareness about all the beautiful flowers and plants grown in Dutch greenhouses. We will also be providing banners to companies along the course, in order to highlight our sector in a positive manner.

Collaboration with Municipality of Westland
To draw attention to the horticultural sector, we are working closely with the Municipality of Westland. On 5 July, we held a meeting for growers and traders to present the plan and share ideas. Anko Goudswaard, Alderman of Sports of the Municipality of Westland, also attended the meeting.

How we are creating a futureproof sector
The activations during the Tour de France Femmes are designed to involve consumers in our journey towards a futureproof sector. By working with growers and trading companies, we can give our sector a face and put the Netherlands on the map as the ultimate flower and plant country. This is essential for ensuring that the Dutch horticultural sector grows and thrives.
